On this page you will meet our young up and coming queen's and stud's. I am very excited about our next two female's as they come from a lovely lady, called Diana Collings of Yaheska Maine Coon's and Diana has some super stunning cat's, and lot's of show success. The other exciting thing is, 'i have been waiting to get a Polydactyl Maine Coon for as long as i'v been breeding, and finally my dream has come true. I collect my Poly female, and a normal, or straight footed female in September of this year. For those of you that dont know, and have never heard of a Polydactyl (Poly for short) they were a big part of the Maine Coon race and go back to foundation line's. Its estimated, that around 40% of the original Maine Coon's were Poly's. Poly mean's extra toe's, and there are cat's with extra toe's on just the front feet, or back, which are called 2 wheel drive, and Poly's with extra toes on all four feet, which are 4 wheel drive. There are different number's of toe's, the normal (even though i hate the referal, NORMAL) but, normally a cat has five toe's on the front feet, and four on the back, with a Poly, it can have as little as one extra toe, or two extra toe's and an extra dew claw. There are also three different type's of Polydactyl feet, one being the mitten foot, which is exactly as it sound's, where the cat look's to have mitten's on. The snow shoe, that yes! look's like the cat is wearing snow shoe's, or has really large feet, and the third is very rare and not really seen nowaday's. Because people did'nt understand this trate year's ago, a mass cull went on, and very few Poly's survived. Of those that did survive, some breeders saw the importance of preserving something that was a natural phenomenon and such a large part of the Maine Coon's in general, so over the year's, more and more breeder's have introduced Poly's into their breeding programme's. Unfortunatley, most of these breeder's are from abroad, and that is why a few UK breeder's have wanted to preserve and carry the breed on in the UK. We also want to give those who are interested in owning something very unique, but still a Maine Coon, the chance to so. There is nothing you have to do any different with a Poly, to an ordinary footed cat/kitten, but they will show you some extraordinarily different thing's they can do with their extra toes. Like using them more like hands to hold toy's, and it's even said that some mitten footed Poly's can hold very small item's like a pen, making them appear quite human like. One parent has to be a Poly, to be able to produce Poly offspring, although you do get straight footed and Poly kitten's in the same litter. The straight footed offspring of a Poly parent can actually benefit from the extra boning their Poly parent passe's on. I will have some link's to other interesting Poly site's, in the near future, with more information for anyone that would like to find out more about these amazing phenomena. In the meantime, could any prospective Poly kitten parent's, be aware, that when my Poly female arrive's she will only be 13 week's old, and therefore it will be at least another 9-10 month's before i would have any Poly kitten's for sale. Diana Colling's of Yaheska, may have more Poly litter's before this, so if you cant wait, you could get in touch with her. Her e mail address is:- dcollings@macace.net and she is in Cornwall. Thankyou for your interest.
