Hello and welcome to all cat lover's. My name is Kay Smith and i am a hairdresser and have been for more year's than i wish to remember. I live in Scunthorpe along with my husband Neil,who is an engineer and work's on industrial vaccum's, and two of our three children. Our youngest Son Aaron,who is 18 and at college,and our Daughter Amy,who is in her second year of Senior school. Our eldest Son, is Kyle and he live's with his girlfriend Jess. He is working in Wale's at the moment.

 We have alway's loved animal's,and they have alway's been part of our family's even when we were young and lived at home with our parent's. We especially love cat's and have had cat's all our married life too. We have had several moggies that we re-homed from the R.S.P.C.A,we only have one of those moggy's now,Rosey who is a tortie and white,we also have a Rag Doll female who is spayed. I nearly started breeding the Rag Doll's but after visiting various cat show's decided that the Maine coon was the breed for us. The Maine coon is a natural breed and was first discovered in America,it is believed that they were from Maine in America,hence the name,Maine coon. Maine coon's are the largest breed of domestic cat and an adult neutered male can reach 20 pounds in weight,female's are smaller and usualy around 9-12 pound's although they can get heavyer when spayed.Caution should be taken as to not let altered cat's get too fat.Maine coon's are people cat's,they are very friendly,although not overly lap cats,they still keep an amount of indipendance,they dont do well on their own for long hour's so anyone wishing to own a Maine coon that is at work all day should consider having two Coon's,they will keep eachother company and be even more entertaining for their human slave's. Two cat's realy are no more trouble to look after than one. Alot of men take to the Maine coon cat as they are big and have very dog like way's.They can be taught to retrieve small ball's and bring them back to you,they are also very laid back cats. Maine coon's also have a liking for water,if it isnt so much being emersed in it you will probably notice them splashing in their water bowl's or trying to get the drips from a tap. They realy are a most adorable breed. If you think about owning a Maine coon,please do think about where they will be allowed to go,after all you would'nt let a rabbit or budgie,or even a dog roam the street's as they choose and you should'nt let your prised Maine coon roam either. If you do want your cat to enjoy the outdoor's then please consider a purpose built run in the garden or if your garden isnt too large how about cat netting the whole garden.If you would like any information on the latter please dont hesitete to ask,we have a fully cat netted garden here,and pen's with run's,so our cat's can live how cat's should and enjoy the outdoor's in total safety.
